Apple Oat Bars


Today is a day for Apple Oat Bars. Unlike most of oat bars these are soft, juicy, natural and what's important easy to eat during the ride. And so easy to make!


Ingredients:
2 cups of oats
1 cup of brown gluten-free flour
2 cooking apples (cut into small pieces / blended  / grated)
1/2 cup of brown sugar (you can add more if you like sweet stuff)
1 egg
4 spoons of soft butter (can be melted, mixes easier then)
a bit of baking soda (1/2 of a tea spoon or so)
1 cup of raisins
cinnamon

Cooking Procedure:
1. Mix butter with sugar.
2. Add an egg.
3. Mix inn apples, oats, flour and baking soda, cinnamon.
4. Add raisins.
5. Bake in 180 deg for approx 15 minutes, until golden brown. Do't dry them out, they will get stiffer when cooled down.

I've tried it with pears but they were too juicy and the batter required adding four. As a result soft oat cookies were created - tasty but too "cookie-like" for a cycling snack. Dense, oaty bars seem much better suited for that job.
